Steve Vick International (SVI) is dedicated to delivering cost-saving solutions for damaged, redundant, or outdated pipework. Since its foundation in 1981, SVI has been at the forefront in developing products and techniques for the repair, renovation and decommissioning of pipes. Predominantly our work has been in the gas industry but increasingly we are undertaking projects in the water and nuclear sectors.   As we expand our operations and diversify our products, this position will support an established operations team and help to maintain SVI’s market position in the gas, water, and nuclear sectors.

  • Job Type: Permanent, Full Time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 – 17:00 37.5 hours per week
  • Salary: Dependent on experience

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager who will be responsible for sourcing and managing suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality materials to meet production demands across our product portfolio.

Role Purpose

  • As Procurement Manager, your role forms an integral part of our operations process, ensuring the procurement of goods and services required to support the delivery of projects.
  • This role will drive value in the procurement process, enhance supplier partnerships, and contribute to SVI’s operational success by ensuring the right materials and services are available at the right time, quality, and cost.
  • This operations role will provide guidance and proactive support to colleagues in all functions.

  • Our Procurement Manager will understand production and engineering requirements e.g. tolerances/dimensions and translate them into procurement needs.
  • You will play a crucial role in identifying potential supply chain risks and implement contingency plans to avoid disruption caused by supply shortages or delays.
  • You will establish new stock control measures in respect of raw materials and cycle count to ensure there is a reduction in overall stock holding and correct stock levels are maintained.

You will:

  • Manage the purchasing of both direct and indirect items, raw materials and packaging services for all departments in alignment with operational requirements.
  • Adjust and re-phase deliveries, expediting when necessary to meet project deadlines.
  • Maintain and update procurement parameters (supplier lead times, safety stocks, yields) within ERP system.
  • Collaborate with the ERP Manager to ensure the system is effectively configured and utilised to streamline procurement workflows, data accuracy and reporting.
  • Expedite purchase orders and maintain accurate records of purchases, materials, and suppliers.
  • Run tender processes for new requirements, negotiating pricing and terms to secure the best position for SVI.
  • Cultivate and nurture strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers and address and resolve any quality issues.
  • Work in collaboration with the Production Manager to lead a small procurement team, setting goals and driving performance.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager and engineering team to forecast material needs based on production schedules and project timelines.
  • Introduce new processes and procedures within the purchasing function.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production and design/development teams to ensure procurement aligns with project requirements.
  • Work with finance to process invoices, resolve discrepancies and manage budget allocations.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
  • Be committed to learn new skills, adapting to change, and staying updated with best practices in procurement and supply chain management.

About you:

  • You will have proven experience as a Procurement Manager within manufacturing engineering or an industrial sector.
  • You have gained a recognised degree level (or equivalent) qualification and hold membership of a relevant professional body e.g. CIPS.
  • You can demonstrate a strong understanding of procurement processes and supply chain management principles.
  • You are highly organised, proactive and can support teams to enable fast problem solving with a ‘one-team’ mentality.
  • Together with good numeracy, you are proficient in using Microsoft packages including Excel and ERP systems for planning and procurement.
  • You possess strong relationship-building and negotiation skills, with a focus on long-term supplier partnerships.
  • You are commercial astute with a proven ability to manage cost.
  • In addition, we are looking for someone who has a natural ability to build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders.
